Alex directed her first production, Whoreticulture, at the Stagecoach Theatre in York (2005), whilst studying Literature, Writing & Performance at York University. After graduating (1st class hons), Alex interned at the Gate Theatre (2007) where she was mentored in directing by Carrie Cracknell. Directing credits: The Gut Girls (the Space, 2009), The Chalky White Substance (rehearsed reading, The Albany, 2010) and A Doll’s House (the Space 2010). Alex is a member of the Young Vic Genesis director’s network and was one of StoneCrabs’ Young Directors in 2010.
Alongside her freelance directing work, Alex has collaborated with director Jonno Ellicott (Churchill Theatre Creative Learning), Danielle McIlven (Find Your Talent collaboration with Half Moon), Company of Angels and Immediate Theatre. She has built and managed the Spaceworks theatre project at the Space since its inception in 2009.
